Company Profile

Global Forest Partners LP

Company Overview

Global Forest Partners LP is one of the oldest and largest timber investment management organizations. GFP currently manages a globally diverse USD2.7 billion portfolio of closed-end commingled timberfunds on behalf of institutional and other qualified investors. GFP is the successor firm to Resource Investments Inc. ("RII") and UBS Timber Investors, and was formed via management buyout from UBS in September 2003. RII was an industry pioneer founded in 1982.

GFP believes that astute plantation forestry investments in globally competitive timber-producing regions can enhance portfolio return while reducing overall risk. As a result, we have developed an unmatched global footprint in areas of strategic interest to the firm. Headquartered in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, GFP has equity holders and investment managers located in Santiago, Chile, Curitiba, Brazil, Montevideo, Uruguay, Auckland, New Zealand, Canberra, Australia, and Singapore.

Company History

Since 1987, GFP and predecessor entities have invested in over 700,000 hectares (1.7 million acres) of high-quality timberland located in North America, South America and Oceania. In North America, investments have been structured in the principal timber-producing regions in the United States: the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northeast. Outside North America, investments have been structured in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, and Uruguay. Investments are actively managed by GFP equity owners or professionals located in Brazil, Chile, New Zealand and the United States.

GFP is unique among timber investment managers as a result of its extensive experience with institutional timber investments in most investment-grade plantation forestry regions worldwide. GFP raised the first closed-end, commingled timberfund focused on ex-US plantation forestry investments in 1992. This first fund was followed by nine additional ex-US timberfunds, three US timberfunds, and three separate accounts. The deep knowledge gained from 25 years of global timber investing has proven invaluable in this rapidly globalizing asset class.
