- Forest Carbon Analyst

POSITION PURPOSE
The Forest Carbon Analyst supports the Company’s efforts in using forest solutions to address climate change through the development and maintenance of high-quality forest carbon offset projects and the evaluation of related investment opportunities. As a Forest Carbon Analyst, you’ll help power Green Diamond’s forest carbon program, from project design and development through long-term monitoring. This position bridges internal collaboration and external engagement, working closely with colleagues, management, technical consultants, and partners across the carbon sector. You’ll build and maintain relationships with peers and experts in the field while helping ensure our projects deliver real, lasting climate benefits while sustaining the ecological and financial health of our forests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Examples of the daily work you will do:
- Maintain a calendarized workflow of forest carbon project activities and track progress across projects.
- Assist with the design and implementation of forest carbon inventories, including data collection, growth and yield analyses, and calculation of forest carbon metrics.
- Prepare and process monitoring reports for existing projects and assist with developing new ones.
- Support development of analytical and spatial tools to improve project efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay current on evolving carbon standards, protocols, and opportunities in the forest carbon sector.
- Collaborate closely with divisional staff, service providers, and management to ensure effective coordination and communication.
Requirements
This work requires a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation, or a related Natural Resource field. An advanced degree in Biometrics, Statistics, Econometrics, or related field is preferred.

- Experience in planning and execution of forest inventories using both fixed plot sampling and variable plot sampling.
- Experience using and/or developing forest growth and yield models and harvest schedules.
- Strong work ethic with the capacity to multi-task and function well with changing priorities.
- Knowledge of basic forest carbon offset project design and greenhouse gas accounting concepts, and/or familiarity with climate mitigation programs such as the American Carbon Registry and California Air Resources Board, required.
- Knowledge of the forest products industry including forest management, harvesting, product manufacturing and marketing, preferred.
- Proficient in, or ability to become proficient in R and SQL.
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Access and Excel) and ArcGIS products.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
This position can be based in any state where Green Diamond operates. The work may be performed remotely or from one of our offices. Preference will be given to candidates in the Seattle, WA area who can participate in regular in-person collaboration at the Seattle office. There will be some field work required of this position.
